I want to begin by offering my deepest condolences to the family of Constable Andrew Hong on their tragic loss. This senseless act of violence

makes it clear just how vulnerable society has become and demonstrates the importance of having a well-funded police force.

I am proud to say that as a York Regional Councillor, I have always voted in favour of giving Police the money they need to put more officers in our neighbourhoods, especially in high risk areas to stop small problems from turning into big problems.

Ada: People are wondering what’s your platform for the upcoming election?

Perrelli: As the Mayor of Richmond Hill, I will never allow Marijuana stores to open in Richmond Hill. There has been an increase in violence and property crimes associated with these stores and I simply do not want them in Richmond Hill.

As you know, Richmond Hill is home to a very diverse population. As the Mayor, I will strengthen our policies to ensure that acts of Anti-Asian hatred are dealt with swiftly and decisively. As far as I am concerned, there is no place for hatred of any kind in Richmond Hill.

I am running for Mayor of Richmond Hill because I know that property taxes are way too high and that residents want City hall to stop wasting their money.

I have voted for a 0% property tax increase in 2021 and 2022, and as the Mayor, I will bring in a 3 Year 0% Tax Freeze, which means that Richmond Hill residents will get no tax increase for the years 2023,2024 and 2025. This is especially important with the prices of everything else like food and fuel at all-time record highs.

Ada: What’s the most important issue in Richmond Hill?

Perrelli: I want to be the Mayor of Richmond Hill because I care about people. I introduced the Windrow Snow Removal Service which cleans the wall of ice and snow left by the plow at the end of your driveway. I made sure the whole City got this service so that you never have to worry about hurting your back cleaning your driveway entrance after a storm.

Everybody knows for residents to live a healthy lifestyle we need to open more soccer, tennis, and pickleball courts right now. Unfortunately many on Council think it’s not a priority and that we can wait. I know that waiting is wrong and I will get them open quickly. Also, I will make sure that cars move better by introducing traffic signal coordination like they have in Toronto and I will make dealing with City hall easier for residents by removing silly procedures.

At the worst of Covid-19, I gave out 10,000 free masks to residents and I exchanged 7,000 broken Green and Blue recycling bins for free when the City was closed and would not do it. As the mayor, I will also include free home delivery of new green and blue bins.
